How to Get to Ceará

By Plane - Ceará has a privileged location, being one of the closest Brazilian states to Europe and to North America. Access to the State is easier now with Pinto Martins International Airport in Fortaleza, inaugurated in 1998, which developed domestic and international tourism and created conditions to increase the number of airplanes arriving in Ceará. Regular flights bring visitors from Spain and Portugal. Frequently, Ceará receives charter flights from Italy, Sweden, Hungary, Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland and Poland. There are also regular domestic flights connecting Ceará and the main Brazilian capitals, such as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

By Land - By land, tourists have many options to arrive in Ceará, using the federal highways. From Parnaíba, Piauí, access is possible by BR-402 and BR-222. BR-020 gives access to visitors from the central region of the country, like Brasília. The ones coming from the Southeast Region, from Rio de Janeiro, for instance, access is by BR-116. From Rio Grande do Norte, the highway that reaches Ceará is BR-304 and from Paraíba, it is BR-230

Internal Traffic - Internally, the tourist traffic from Fortaleza towards the main tourist destinations in the State is easy because of the good conditions of the roads and traffic signs. Access to the beaches on the Cearense coast is possible by two main routes, CE-040 and CE-085.

CE-040 links the capital and the towns on the Sunrise Coastline, like Beberibe, where Morro Branco Beach is located, Cascavel, where there is Caponga Beach and Aracati, where there is Canoa Quebrada Beach. On the Sunset Coastline, CE-085, also known as the Structuring Highway, takes visitors to São Gonçalo do Amarante (Pecém and Taíba Beaches), Paraipaba (Lagoinha Beach) and Itapipoca (Baleia Beach). BR-020 connects Fortaleza and the central region of the State, which, in its turn, gives access to Ibiapaba Mountain and Inhamuns Backwoods. For further details, check the "How to arrive" page
